It all began back in 1880 with "the little elephant". Margarete Steiff originally intended it to be a cute pin cushion. The children, however, grew fond of it as a toy. And so it became the forerunner to a limitless number of Steiff "friends for life". On its 135th anniversary, Steiff now includes the felt elephant in the series of ornaments enclosed in hand-blown glass balls: 8 cm in diameter and made of high quality wool felt, just like in that time. Available in a limited edition of 500, with the gold-plated "Button in Ear", and a bright red saddlecloth, fastened with Rocailles and embellished in gold thread with the "Steiff" logo.
