Riding animals

Wooden rocking animals are among the oldest toys for children. Even in ancient times, there were small horses on wheels to pull along! The first rocking horses with wooden runners were developed in America in the 17th century. We at Steiff had the first pull-along animals on wheels in our catalogue from 1892, and from 1950 rocking runners, then called ‘Wiegenläufel’, could be purchased as accessories. Today we offer a wide selection of rocking animals for your little treasure, from the classic, naturally plush and soft rocking horse to the impressive lion. Our sturdy rocking animals are built to last and have a stable frame that can support up to 120 kg, hidden beneath their cuddly bodies covered in soft plush.

Riding toys offer many benefits for your child's development. They help improve physical fitness and motor skills by teaching children how to move and coordinate. Riding toys can also be used as role-play toys to stimulate your child's imagination and develop their social and emotional skills. With riding toys, you offer your child a great opportunity not only to improve their imagination and creativity, but also to improve their motor skills and balance. In addition, riding toys are a great way to teach children to take responsibility and care for a pet or riding toy.

At Steiff, we have constantly evolved throughout our long history, yet we have always remained true to our roots. Our aim remains to create products that evoke emotions that last a lifetime.
